...but I'll take it. A friend of our neighbor caught these red-earred sliders in a nearby lake, and they are now living in our pond. Aren't they CUUUTE??!
I read up on these guys a little last night, and they are apparently considered "exotic pets". Someone must have let some loose in this lake a while back.
We've had a little trouble in Paradise, here: first off, since we last cleaned the pond so effectively, it seems we have a fishing hole for owls and/or herons, as the fish were disappearing at an alarming rate. So, we put a net over the pond to protect what we had left. THEN, we seem to have gotten a parasite or something--the fish were acting oddly, and we lost about 6 of them, including one of the big guys.
It looks like we're OK, now: everyone seems to be hanging in there and acting normally. We'll see how it goes...

Oh fun!!!! they can keep the fish company!!!
